It’s been on before but the way the Catholic Church in Ireland could do what they did to young women who became pregnant , still shocks

That was more social pressure leading to unmarried pregnant women surrendering their babies, getting backstreet abortions or having shotgun weddings, Helen. The world was very small for a lot of families and being ostracized or the focus of scandal could be hard to bear. Thankfully social attitudes have changed.

Oh I agree. I’ve seen this series before but some elements are fuzzy in my memory except the awful way the Catholic Church did and still do treat unmarried parents.
no I got the lost twin who lived up the road
and the father who walked out and walked as far as Canada

family cover ups, lies and traded babies but no evil priests

Plenty of evil priests PP
Glass houses and stones comes to mind, have you not heard what we English did to unmarried mothers.
And an awful lot of parents made their daughters give up their babies (effectively their Grandchildren) when all the girls wanted was some help from their family to keep their precious babies and bring them up themselves. I find that very hard to grasp.
my friend had a baby about 40 years ago out of wedlock and she worked for a school with a head nun.

when the nun found out she was pregnant she told my friend she (nun) would take it and give it to a couple.

my friend naturally was distraught as she had just lost her parents the previous year. She went on to rear the little girl herself.
The English welcomed their daughters who got pregnant out of wedlock then did they?

Bobbs I do know some kind priests over the years and I have two cousins (sisters) who are nuns and the kindest people you would ever know.

I loved them (one is now deceased) the other is based in Jerusalem. But we are all capable of generalising.

You’re right of course JJ , I shouldn’t of generalised with my answer to PP, point taken
be as crazy as you like - there is no law against it
andif it were a rule on AB
no one would post!

It should be shown in the Usa........maybe they would rethin Roe vs Wade and, while I am at it, well done Kansas for the local Republicans pulling two fingers at the national party and the Supreme Court ruling.
Completely unexpected - The Kansas vote
and so the midterms.... may become a one-issue election
but THAT may not be an advantage
