I can't really understand why anybody over the age of 18 has the slightest interest in this "story".

Two z-list celebs arguing about a social media tiff. YAWWWWNNN.
lawyers retained by vacuous wag in libel case, bet the champagne corks were popping that day . . .
Mozz71,
Sometimes the courts produce high drama where life and liberty hung in the balance. Other times vulgar comedy was the order of the day. Divorce proceedings were reported and not a salacious detail would be left out of the press. This case, in my unlearned opinion, falls into the same category. It has provided much amusement for many.
It’s headlines on the lunchtime news. ( it’s not as if there are more important issues to report on . Start with Ukraine.

Mozz: //I can't really understand why anybody over the age of 18 has the slightest interest in this "story". // - ordinarily I would agree with that but this case fascinated me because it explores how far someone is prepared to go to "prove" they are not busted when they are busted. Mrs Rooney's method was well executed 100% effective. Mrs Vardy just could not bear the idea that she'd been out played and tried to use the legal profession to beat Mrs Rooney into submission. I found it a fascinating case.
Ukraine has been discussed, second and fifth story down from this so go there if you want to discuss it.

I agree TTT, it is a fascinating case, also amusing though and lets face it no one really cares who won or lost, its not as if either are on the bones of their ass. Well maybe Vardy will be when she dumps him for her next 'conquest'.
What a total waste of time and money
Well its their money and time so what gives you the right to say how they should spend it, are you a commie?

And it wasnt a waste, it should teach others about lying and being a nasty pieces of work.
Losers and winners.

The Losers:
Vardy. If she ever had a reputation, it is now in tatters.
Exposed as a liar and now thousands of pounds poorer.

Rooney. Out of pocket through no fault of her own.

The Winners:
Caroline Watt (Vardy’s PA). Did all the leaking and faces no trial or financial penalty.

Mr Murdoch and the Sun. Printed lots of stories and sold lots of newspapers. Wouldn’t participate in the trial.

//Vardy. If she ever had a reputation,//

Now that made me smile Gromit :-)
//Mrs Rooney will probably return to her role as perfumer and fashion designer. I don't know what the other lady will do now.//

Surely you mean that her name will continue to be attached to things for which she will receive a payment?
many thanks Barmaid for the judgment URL
The beeb ( not great lawyers) said 70% Rooneys costs and I did wonder why so low

Ah, so more a eye opener about the human need for validation in even when you know you're in the wrong than the court case itself. I can understand that.
I have to say that I'm surprised at how unattractive the loser is, maybe just the wrong lighting though.
