Does anyone know of a computer CD or book that is like a gardening encyclopedia. (with pictures) I want to be able to look up a flower, plant or shrub that I have in my garden and it will tell me when to prune it, if it is annual or perrenial and any other things I need to know about it. All of the gardening books I have do not tell me in a novice way what to do.

Thanks

I think it's impossible to pin it down to one book but I wouldn't be without....

RHS Encyclopedia of Plants and Flowers

RHS Encyclopedia of Gardening

and a selection of the Dr. Hessayon Expert books which are only about 6 or 7.

look in charity shops for books - I've picked up several for the price of a monthly gardening magazine.
Hi, The New Flower Expert and the Tree and Shrub expert by Dr. D.G. Hessayon are simple andeasy to use and a good place to start. Also BBC has a Gardeners World site that you might find useful. Regards H.
Sorry Robinia, must have answered at the same time!
yes horty! ....a book by the good Dr was what got me into gardening in the first place :o)
I'd like to second Robinia's and Horty's choices, exellent value for money too, both R H S and the Dr's expert, books come in a series of small books, so you can pick and choose what you like! All the Best Tbird+
