Very strange, normally the first sign of warm sunny weather especially with windows and doors open, you get invaded by loads of flies, also no sign of moths or daddy long legs at night??

I've also noticed a shortage of flies in the house, especially with all the back doors wide open ! Normally, I look up at the ceiling light and there are usually about half a dozen fruit flies buzzing around quite merrily every day - not see any so far. Not complaining though ...

I remember every summer when children were small, the beach (Weymouth) was always plagued with wasps. As soon as there was an ice-Lolly or fizzy drink around, they'd be there tormenting. Very rarely see any now. Strange.
'rocky, seems I have been mistaken all these years - crane flies don't bite. My nasty bites must be from horse flies'

Ouch! Horse flies are a scourge.
Sharon, do you just leave flies buzzing around? I hate the filthy things and take no prisoners! I’m a dab hand with the swatter!
Patsy I agree about wasps. Years ago when visiting a local beauty spot called Walton Gardens, there were wasps everywhere and I mean everywhere, they used to spoil the visit, but now you barely see one or two - what I wonder is going on ?

Every fly and flying ant that's come into the conservatory has died almost instantly over the last three days. Little vac's earning its keep.

Dave hates wasps and knows not to kill one if I'm around. Wasps are needed for many reasons but the most important one is that some wasps are vital in the production of wine and they have a big impact on the flavour.
Some wasps matter...... ;-)
Wasps do matter (even though they are an irritant), they are pollinators like bees.
I had two wasp like buzzing things in between my nets and windows. They were definitely not bright yellow like wasps and definitely not flies. Don't know what they were but I swatted them.
Yes, BS, quite concerning..
I tried to get them out the window but after several minutes I couldn't so next option was swatting.

On a brighter note I've been helping spiders out the door and also a ladybird.
