Despite what the woke brigade would have you believe, the word "inclusion" does not solely refer to people. However, in the run up this year, it appeared that was all The Academy had in mind.

Over many years The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences has evolved the Oscars' ceremony to the level of a tacky circus. The event lacks decorum and the behaviour of "celebrities" is often of a regrettable standard. Glamour has been replaced by many for shockability effect.
How can any respectable organisation not vet the script of the host(s) prior to going live or make sure that all speakers at the podium are given but a short time to deliver their (well-prepared, no doubt) speeches. It used to be a simple matter of acknowledgement and appreciation (although Greer Garson's effort gave her the world record for longest thank you!).
I remember that the "audience" used to occupy stalls seating throughout the evening - who decided to seat some so close to the main stage?
The people in this industry can be paid obscene amounts of money and in return others will pay the asking price to view the films.
The fortune spent on producing this annual, sad occasion could be spent far better elsewhere.
I expect the wheels are already in motion for the 2023 Oscars, just hope someone concentrates on the basics next year and includes all aspects of what for the Americans should be a show case to be proud of and not ridiculed. Whoever thinks that this year's offering made good television sadly is deluded.

Just want to make sure I understand your point - the Academy was so focussed on inclusivity that it forgot something else.
