I'm curious to know if in the UK you have your own version of "Judge Judy", or are you watching the American show?

yes - NOT that successful. the male Judge judy we have was a trial advocate, and gave up to do the TV prog. I am not sure if he is back in law practice. Different emphasis - slower and more cross examination which is done by the judge ( TV star). This is a mirror from the lowest tier ( small claims courts) which dont usually have paid lawyers, The opposing sides are not allowed to claw at each others throats, so the judge does it

Judge Judy uses sort of inter-state common law which is very near our own. Family law is pretty close
When I seen this title earlier I thought she must of been appearing in the Sun Bingo ads which I thought sounded odd
I'm quite a fan but I was very disappointed recently to learn that they've got rid of Officer Byrd and brought JJ's grandaughter in as a para-legal, they didn't even have the courtesy to tell him directly.

Wow I liked Byrd, can’t believe that. I think l read somewhere that Judy has retired now, maybe the grand daughter will take over? Won’t be the same …
I don't know Zebo - I follow JJ too and read that Byrd didn't really want to come back as he had been looking after his wife who has had a brain tumour.
She has a new series on a new channel, the Byrd version read was that he heard she was starting a new series and contacted her to be told he wouldn't be needed.
