Is this indicative of shifting moods ? Is it an age/demographic thing ?
I never use Facebook so cannot really comment
Though I do use Instagram frequently and TikTok very rarely
Do ABers actively shun certain social media platforms ?

"...it seems to foster an utterly undeserved sense of self-importance for people who clearly do not deserve it, and it also appears to foster the notion that everyone's opinion, no matter how asinine, must be shared with the rest of the planet."

Quite similar to AB then.
Good old TTT, ranting against something he's had no experience of.

Nothing new there then.

If you say so - I couldn't possibly comment!!
Anyone using a social media site like say...Answerbank then proclaims they don't use social media is a fruitloop.

Meta has just fallen 25% ...buying opportunity imo.
Fruitloop - is that 3 up from Fruit of the Loom, roy?
canary: "Good old TTT, ranting against something he's had no experience of." - I've had no experience of heroin either but I'm confident that it's a bad thing.
I wouldn't use Twitter of they paid me. Like the OP, I am on Instagram and occasionally while away some time on TikTok. Facebook I use only for following some fan groups, not for networking.
Andy: "It may well be an age thing - I am happy to communicate face to face and by phone, by e-mail for work, but I have no desire at all to spend time typing messages to, and receiving messages from people I don't actually know. "

Surely that's what you do every day isn't it? Still, perhaps you do it without having a desire to do it, i.e. you do it as a public duty.

:-)

You are right, but I have never seen AB as 'social media' even though I accept that it is considered as such.

But you have to remember, I've been with the site since 2000, and originally I was employed as a professional writer - it was nothing like it is now.

To me, there was AB, and then come-laters like Facebook and Twitter have grown up around it.

It's a bit like AB being the Tower Of London and Facebook being the Millennium Dome - one has history.
And Jackdaws
Alright, ravens but, y'know...
Its all my fault! The reduction in posts was down to me getting a 24 hour facebook ban for posting a comment that facebook deemed inciting violence! Only just got back on. Have to say I spend far too much time on it but most of it is for dog club business and show news. We do have a more chat like group though that has seen a lot of 'meaningful discussions' on covid related subjects lately.
Their number of users fell by 0.05% and the shares are down by more than a quarter.

Seems a bit harsh to me.
TCL, I imagine the market has been gambling on FB expanding forever, far beyond the actual population of the planet; once that delusion proves mistaken, they're not interested.

Markets, especially in the US and UK, are prone to short-term thinking.
