Have any of you ever had it?? How serious? And how ill were you with it? Best ways to heal recovery? Ive been quite ill with it, in hospital, and just looking for advice on healing. I’ve been told avoid foods high in fat, and alcohol, obviously, but anything else?? TIA xx

Oh Emmie, you understand! I haven’t had anything removed - yet, but was in hospital for 23 days, let home but 7 days later I was back in for another 8 days. Apparently my pancreas has necrosis(parts have died) but they seem to say that they don’t think they need to remove it. I honestly have never felt so drained, low, and just out of sorts. Even I was shocked when the hospital said how ill I was as it had just appeared out of the blue. One minute I was upstairs doing something then bang, completely out of the blue I collapsed with the worst pain I have ever experienced.
i do get it smow, it was the worse pain i have felt, apart from when i had teeth problems. Not to say you won't feel better, it just takes time.
i had the gall bladder removed by key hole surgery, and that was better apparently than cutting me open. The pain of it was so very bad, couldn't walk, nor do any lifting, even lifting the kettle proved a problem. It just takes time to heal.
what is your long term prognosis?

I have to go back in a couple of weeks , but they said it’s very likely that I will have flare ups, which I think it what’s happened this week(since Wednesday). Ive had a fever, v upset tummy, felt sick, breathless etc , - a lot of the symptoms of a flare up. I even lost 7lbs in weight. Luckily this eve(well last night now) Ive just started to feel slightly better.
i hope that you feel better soon smow, i know just how bad the pain can be, take care...

How long ago was yours Emmie??
i can't remember to be honest, i have tried to erase it from memory, but it still lingers as to the acute pain i felt.
Sorry you have been so ill, Smow - but there might be a positive to come out of this.
Give it a few weeks and I think you will be sleeping much better now you have stopped drinking. Fingers crossed, anyhooo
i didn't drink for months, was advised not to, and i didn't feel like it, you will likely like me, get back to drinking a glass or two when the time is right, not now.....
Hi Smow, sorry to hear you've been so poorly.
I think it sounds like a good idea to avoid foods high in fat like cheese, pork etc and having just read about it on the NHS website, it sounds like alcohol is not a good idea.
Also, try not to eat large amounts of food at one sitting.
Hope they manage to sort you out at the hospital and if you can see a dietician perhaps they could advise you.

Thanks barsel, alcohol is the one thing I can guarantee 100% I won’t be touching - just the thought of it makes me feel ill!
Hi Smow. Didn't realise how poorly you have been. Sounds really nasty.
Take it easy and look after yourself.
Hope you continue to get better. xx
