Everyday I read the Manchester Evening News online, and everyday there has been at least one stabbing somewhere in the city.
Is it all drug related, and do you get a lot of stabbings in your part of the country?
There used to be a lot of it in London, but I haven't heard of as many recently.

Yes, I know they can be very well hidden, emmie, but there are none in my area. We have been campaigning for them for years but more so since a murder three years ago. There is no money and no need, according to the authorities.
// 5 year prison sentence for everyone caught carrying a knife. Whether it would act as a deterrent, I don't know.//

nope but it wd fill the prisons with frightened teenagers who had carried knives because they were scared to go out
( carrying and stabbing are Very Different)

PP isn't carrying a weapon called possession with intent?
Nobody should be carrying a weapon just in case they need to protect themselves.
If they are scared to go out, then they should stay in.
many of those killed have been school age, same as those doing the killings, how do you combat that.
Yes, it is, Barsel, because knives can be carried legally in certain circumstances - tradesmen, fishermen and the like - but not down a trouser leg in the pub.

Emmie, you are right, they seem to be getting younger and younger. Very worrying if you have children or grandchildren at this age.
// There have been 375 stabbings in Manchester between January and October, the figures show.//

yup - 1 - 1.25 a day

PP from Barry's link.

'In the year ending March 2021, there were around 41,000 (selected) offences involving a knife or sharp instrument in England and Wales (excluding Greater Manchester Police Force). This was 15% lower than in 2019/20 and 27% higher than in 2010/11. Recent trends in knife crime have been affected by undercounting in the Greater Manchester Police Force area prior to 2018/19. Increases in recorded offences since 2018/19 are directly related with improvements in recording practices.'

A rare consensus.
Thanks for the reminder, Jackdaw33. I have reinstated the answers.

No I dont think it is:

//because knives can be carried legally in certain circumstances - tradesmen, fishermen and the like - but not down a trouser leg in the pub.// very estricted - a butcher cant carry a machete under the car seat....

with intent appears to be firearms
We live in disgruntled times: covid, brexit, rising cost of living, people having to work their *** off just to scrape by. I see it on the roads too, people are getting resentful and driving more and more aggressively, lots of tailgating and cutting up. As I sip my coffee, I raise it and hope things get better.
...oh and unhappy parents produce unhappy kids, I think that's the bottom line of it.
