No particularly keen on the band myself, but there's been no escaping the news that they have released new material after 40 years away. Here's a track from their new album;

That was lovely. I loved the way it built up and those beautiful voices came soaring out. I'll play that again.
The lyrics are really meaningful. I can relate to them, celebrating 30 years of marriage this month.
Lovely track & I've always liked ABBA :-)
Thanks, I hadn't got round to listening. Unmistakeably Abba, thank goodness, they haven't lost it. And I was, and am a fan.
Hoppy, she probably doesn't fancy you anymore either.:-)
You're not wrong!
I see these lyrics as people who have separated and are questioning if they have it in them to come back together as they still have faith and love between them.
The memories they share, the crazy things they did, a story that survived.
So yes, they do have it in them.
I have to admit I was never a great fan back in the day and their constant presence in the top ten irritated me. It took a few decades though for me to start noticing their songs and to develop an affection for the nordic supertroupers. Call it middle age, call it nostalgia ...call it happy memories attached to their timeline but I am utterly elated that they "are back" despite the "ABBAtars" and that their voices have matured a bit.
Björn Ulvaeus reflecting on coming back after forty years...
"We went into the studio just for fun, just to see what happened and we were as astonished as everyone else that out came the sound of ABBA as though nothing had happened!"
Have they come back to make a few more million bucks before they snuff it? Maybe, but probably not IMO.
I mean when has this happened before? A band returning, full original lineup IN THEIR 70s, and they can still cut it?
Google, I'm sure they did it, as Bjorn says, simply because they were curious.

Fame and money rarely stop the urge to make music thst motivates musicians to make music in the first place.

They do it because it firms part of who they are. Money doesn't change that.
