I went to the cinema in the 70s power cut era.

We checked local paper and we were not high risk for a cut.
(they printed charts showing which areas were low, medium or high risk for a cut)

A few minutes into the film it all went black. We were led out by usherettes using torches, and were given tickets to return another day.
