What is now called interval training - run for so long, walk for so long, repeat and repeat and repeat used to be called something else but I can't think what.
Anyone know?

Do you mean fartlek?
Strictly speaking it's not quite the same thing, but it's all I can think of
the galloway?
Question Author
No and no.
wogging?
I have never heard of another term for interval training, and I used to do it for years. It was called interval training back in the dark ages when it did me any good :-)

Repetitions (reps) I guess was the other word we used.
Question Author
I've never heard of fartlek or galloway - have googled and they do seem to be same or similar but not the term I am thinking of
We used to call it scouts pace
Question Author
Not heard of wogging, either. I'm learning some new terms so all good
Question Author
That's it, roo! Scout's pace.
Thank you, have a Twix :D
Fartlek is just running fast for a bit and then slow, then speeding up again. Intervals are more structured.
I'd never heard of "galloway" which seems to be a recentish term named after its "inventor"
Scout's pace isn't interval training tho:
it's covering a distance by a mix of running and walking
Thanks for the Twix, barry, jusy whay I needed.
