I'm am renting a holiday home at Christmas (hopefully) I am taking my dog, it is dog friendly, but I am a bit worried about him marking, if he can smell other dogs, that have stayed there, is there anything I can buy/do to stop this.

We’ve stayed in a number of dog friendly cottages and our male dog has never done any marking in them.
He was very easy to house train, wees in the garden in an area he’s been trained to, is crate trained so knows and loves his safe space (we always take his crate with us) and generally just loves being with us.
So to answer your question, I’m sorry, I don’t have an answer.

The same Vagus, he was easily and quickly house trained, I've never taken him away before, so really don't know what to expect, when I take him to a new place, I will take his bed, he hasn't been in a crate since he was a pup.
We also stay in many holiday cottages and our male, neutered, dog has never done any 'marking'. If worried about yous, just take some disinfectant and a sponge and clean any places down. Not a problem.
^^^ Obviously we take his bed, bowls etc., so all these are familiar but I always also take a rug which I can put over whichever bit of the cottage floor (or chair) he may find friendly. It may be useful to use a couple of leaves of newspaper underneath the dog-bowls. Easy to tidy away and also means his food does not have any other smells near it. Hope this helps.
I would take a fold up crate just in case, it will give you peace of mind should he decide to mark, and if you don't have somewhere to put him you are then stuck cleaning every time he does. If its a dog friendly place they will be more likely to not get upset but you don't want to encourage it.
