Am about to open a shop and the street we're on seems to be a real favourite for all the local dogs to pee in - the owners letting them do it!

I'm in Spain (and the owners don't care here....) and in this heat the smell is unbearable and I don't want people to be put off coming in our shop.

Is there a chemical or seomthing that will repel dogs and stop them from marking their territory in that street/spot?

I assume that one would need to clean the majority of the old pee/sh*t off as well to make sure there's nothing for them to scent mark over? Something that lasts more than a couple of days would be great as well! Many thanks.

To get rid of the smell try normal washing powder in hot water, i work in a dog creche+this is the only thing that neutralises the ammonia. To stop them doing this is a bit harder, you could try citrus scented things as dogs do not like citrus!
I'm in Spain too and we have the same problem as we live in a corner house. I clean the area with bleach, wait till it dries and sprinkle black pepper down, although it hasnt stopped it entirely it is much much better...especially effective this time os the year as it doesnt get washed away. Trudi

finally got some stuff from a drogueria which is a yellow dust that you sprinkle all over the area - apparently it puts them right off..let's hope so. thanks all
You could buy puppy training pads-( I used them when training my pup, they have a scent that dogs find attractive and makes them want to urinate there.) So, maybe put some pads on a road off of the street and then they will start peeing there.
