I wonder can I ask if anyone has tried meat free bacon and if so, which do they prefer?
For some time now, I seem to get stomach pains when I eat pork , so I was wondering about an alternative to my bacon butty.
Something like this perhaps?

Some mixed reviews there but no, I haven't tried it.

The only alternative to porky bacon I have tried is turkey rashers, they were acceptable in a BLT or should I say a TLT.

Unfortunately, I can't eat turkey either as it makes me vomit. I could always try the meat free as I might just like them, but hope someone might recommend one or two.
There is nothing in that list of ingredients that would tempt me or my vegan daughter to try them.
Question Author
barry does your daughter eat meat free bacon?
No, she doesn't, Barsel. She more or less cooks everything herself from scratch and doesn't buy the 'junk' vegan food that seems to be everywhere at the moment.
Some weird and wonderful replacements here, posted for perusal as I haven't tried any of them.

I`ve eaten beef bacon - not in this country though so I don't know if you can buy it here. It was OK (more taste than turkey bacon)

Thanks for the link Mamya.
I do like to treat myself to a fry up at the weekend and I have found out I quite like the Richmond meat free sausages, but at Tesco, the Richmond bacon is smoked which again I don't like any smoked food.

If you're prepared to buy Halal you can source it here, pricey though.

You can make it yourself but finding belly of beef may not be easy.

No harm in trying the meat free bacon from Tesco, and if I don't like it,
I can always do without I suppose.
Thanks for all your answers.
So far I haven't found decent meat free bacon style rashers so don't bother. Like you say, the Richard meat free sausages are really good. Even little Tigs likes them and he hates all other vegan alternatives.
Marks and Spencer do vegan bacon rashers. Don’t know what they taste like, but they look like that rock you can buy at the seaside!
If you don't want to eat meat, why would you want to eat a poor imitation?
We've started selling these at Morrisons and have been pretty popular. Wouldn't do for me, but may fit your bill.

I tried this one - I would not recommend it.
