It's not important but do wonder that when the above was younger she had very African curly hair but now it is very straight and sleek.

How has she managed that?

It can be done......says Mrs sqad.
Long and involved process....says Mrs sqad.
I suppose she has it straightened. Lots of people do.
Its like a reverse perm jenny.
It probably straightened itself through fear of the owner!
I wish I had any hair to straighten. :-)

ok - I do realise that straighteners would be involved but boy wouldn't that be a task and a half every day and I never thought that you could get that "shiny" look.
There are lots of chemical straightening treatments around. My hair is curly and I used to get it straightened ever year when it grew out. I just use GHDs now though.
I doubt she has anything to do with the process, jenny, apart from sitting there and waiting until the hairdresser is finished.
I have a little shudder to myself whenever I see her name in a title thread. Nice to see that this isn't the usual hate content.

ok - thanks folks.
jenny -it is not needed to be done everyday -its permanent like a 'PERM' -like old women who get a perm to get curly hair -they don't need to do it every day.

oh - thanks APG - I really wouldn't have known that cos any friends I have that have curly hair, after they straightened it - a little bit of rain caused to go even more curlier.
Diana Ross and the like were doing it back in the 60s and 70s - chemical straightening of their hair.
Not particularly because they wanted their hair to look more 'European' and less 'African' but because the more 'European' they looked the more likely they were to be successful.
Dinah Washington did the same in the 1950s.
barry, i always thought those were wigs that Diana Ross and the Supremes wore.
Went to a hairdressers. Good grief.
They definitely wore wigs but they also used chemicals to straighten their hair. I read a lengthy article about Ross many years ago where she mentioned it.
Maybe its a wig?

I worked with a couple of ladies whos hair was naturally frizzy but got fed up with the straighening process so opted for wigs, they were so realistic no one knew.
She probably had it changed at a salon for an acting role.
