Recorder Instrument

Caught a bit of the Kemps earlier and they were trying to guess songs played on a recorder.

I've never seen a recorder used for anything other than at school as a first instrument for children. I had a recorder when I was a child and all I could play was Londons Burning.

Are they used in major orchestras? Did you have one?

What instruments can you play?

There are many sizes of recorder and they are used mainly by original instrument groups to play Medieval and Baroque music.
There is one young lady who is a virtuoso but her name escapes me...

Anna Fusek is the girl I was trying to think of.

At school I played the trumpet to a high standard for my age and went on to a career of absolute mediocrity and stopped in my early 20's.
I can also squeeze a tune out of a flageolet.

Bagpipers...

The shape of bagpipes is similar to that of an octopus. You play the bagpipes by squeezing the bag.

I thought that was the case. What pipes are attached to the bag?

Drones - the ones sticking up that provide the 'ground'
Chaunter - the one pointing down that provides the tune

If you're really good on the recorder, you can play four at once - as well as adding in a bit of percussion too ;-)
