I don't see that I'm telling you anything: It's in the premise of the question. It can't merely be value for money because the Government says that it is.

Why, then, do you think is this value for money? What is it specific about this programme that makes you think so?
What we have here is what would normally be considered a good thing. The government are reluctant to infringe on our civil liberties and they act to avoid that. Testing has its place but the way out of this, not just for the UK but for the world is vaccination. Vaccination, the take up of which needs to be encouraged and the tin hatters discouraged and, if necessary, disadvantaged by some form of world wide verification system. Testing is like an MOT it does not mean the vehicle is of MOT standard for a year. A clear test cannot be trusted for long nor should it be. So i think this focus on testing is really to avoid the more authoritarian approach that the government should be taking.

I’ve been thinking about this and I’m struggling to see what benefit this will be on any sort of meaningful scale.
People can do a test of sorts if they want, which is good, but I don’t see how the exultant tabloid headlines make any sense.
If it results in more people testing positive hence infection rates going up, that will give the lock down maniacs an excuse to demand we continue with these restrictions even though nobody is in hospital or dying.
thousands are in hospital, and people are still dying.
it will still happen once we ease off the pedal of lockdown.
It's something we will have to accept and get used to I'm afraid emmie
yes i can see that.
Seems a bit flawed.

- Anyone can get a proper laboratory test if they want one. If they do this rapid test and it comes out positive they are expected to isolate and get a lab test. If that is negative they can stop isolating.
As far as I can see, there is very little to be gained by the rapid test.
- They may isolate unnecessarily
- They will delay the lab test
- If they test negative they will ignore covid regs
- if they test positive but feel well they can ignore it
Keeps those behind the sofa (who wont come out anyway) happy though sunk.

I know many tradespeople who are oin the bones of their ass due to Johsons actions. He either doesnt care or is too removed to notice.

Well he will come election, these are white van/mondeo man who make or break an election. Just because he had an easy ride list time due to COB and Brexit doesnt mean he will next time. He needs to go before we see the end of the Tory Party.
