it's being said the lateral flow tests are being offered free at point of use. it's also being said that if the test is positive you can elect to take a PCR test. what's not being said is whether that test is also free or is at your own expense (typically £70-£80) and whether it will get you out of house-arrest early. anybody know?

Yes emmie it is a horrible virus and probably worse than flu but flu still kills thousands every year and we dont go into panic mode over it. We are now in a position to open things up, yes a few might still die but its something we will have to live with, just like we do with flu.

flu kills thousands every year, but Covid was, and still is, capable of killing the same number in a much shorter timescale. It's demonstrably worse, by around an order of magnitude, than even the worst flu seasons (with the exception of the 1918 flu).

i know the flu kills thousands, but this has killed 10 times that and requires one to one nursing if you unhappily catch it and it goes to your respiratory system, causes blood clots too from what i read the other day.

from the article "Anyone who tests positive using a lateral flow test will be expected to self-isolate along with their household. They can then order a second PCR Covid test, typically used for symptomatic cases, which will be sent off to a laboratory for analysis.
If the confirmatory test comes back negative, their quarantine period is considered over immediately and they can resume normal life."

I would suggest that "can order" means that its free, as it currently is if you are asked to self isolate.

I guess 60%, if not more will end up going straight in the bin when they fall through the letter box, you don't really think that the people that are still working are going to put themselves out of work do you, I know Boris is daft enough to think so.

The main reason being, its a well known fact that 70% of people applying for £500 stay at home payment is being refused by LA, Why? because government have not provided the funds to councils that they promised.

Then very few will request them. the one and only reason government are doing this is to cover their asses, because its what they should have done months ago, we were told then (months ago) that this was the way out. Then we were told that the vaccine was the way out, so people had the vaccines in their millions, but again we are being fed more BS. And tonight there will be more BS from Doris.
