where there was a bit on a woman who had let her alsation starve and only got a 4 month prison sentence. i was wondering who else out there thinks that animal cruelty should have harsher sentence's, and the sentences should be treated as if the person was being cruel to another human.

well said dummkopf .
Jenstar, you are an idiot and must have posted this , just to provoke a reponse, nobody could be as heartless as you sound.
jenstar.. you sound abit ridiculous.. I was attacked by a dog when I was younger, ONCE and it scarred.. but 12 times.. hmm that's abit over the top isn't it?? Dog's are not vermin, rats are.. I think maybe you should research these abit more on the net:

hope this helps ;-)
ooh, and in response to the question, yes I think sentences should be harsher. There was a story about a jocky who hit his horse after losing a race and he got banned from racing for a day... I mean, what's the point in that? He probably wasn't going to race the next day anyway??! As for starving a dog, I wouldn't be able to bring myself to do it.. some people are just sick.
jenstar, i've been bitten by a couple of dogs in the past, but cannot blame the dogs, if someone buys or brings a dog into their home it is up to them to train & look after it properly so therefore if it is vicious the owner of the dog should keep it under control, you cannot blame the animal, the owners are the ones responsible, and as said by everyone on this thread , anyone who is cruel or mistreats animals should be treated with the contempt they deserve.
4 months is actually a lot more than most animal cruelty cases. Many times I've been so sad to see the perpetartors of great cruelty receiving a conditional discharge and 20 fine or something. Then not even bamnned from keeping animals. It makes me sick.
It can't just be me - I avoid parks, I don't even go out if I can avoid it. There must be people who have been attacked far more than I have. It's amazing that there aren't more fatalities - maybe they really are "just being friendly", but an animal whose idea of "just being friendly" is to dig their claws into your flesh isn't one that ought to be let out in public.
I've never heard of anyone being attacked 12 times or was it 13 ??? So if you don't go to parks and don't go out if you can avoid it - where do these "attacks" take place ?
Maybe you give off a smell they don't like, I know you give off an attitude I don't like.
The trouble is, I can't always avoid going out. To give you an example, the last attack was round the corner from my home. I was coming back from the shops, and someone who lives there pulls up in their car, opens the back door, and out bounds a dog which makes straight for me. I stand still, try saying "No." in a firm voice, it still tears at my trousers, and when it does go away, the owner tells ME off for shouting at his dog. Considering all I did was repeatedly say "no", and he's the one letting a dangerous animal loose on the street, I really don't think I'm the one in the wrong. But I wasn't going to argue the point, considering he had a vicious animal on his side and I didn't. Besides which, at that point I was rather keen to get home and deal with the wounds. Still, I don't suppose this cuts any ice with you, dummkopf, since you obviously believe dogs can do no wrong.
Maybe it was because you were shouting constantly at the dog and it felt threatened by you?!
I definately think there should be harsher sentences on animal cruelty. Animals feel the same pain and sadness that humans do when they are abused, they just can't express them with words. But what can they do to protect themselves? If a child is abused, they have the ability to call authorities for help. But for animals there's no escape.
So what I'm saying is that animal cruelty should be prevented, by providing a harsh punishment.
Jenstar, what happened to you is undoubtably sad, but if a person had attacked you 12 times would you blame the whole of humanity? you can't blame the acts of few on the majority, you sound like the bloody government
