Has anyone else suffered hair loss after having a baby? My baby is 4 months old and Ive noticed loads of hair falling out in the shower/on my brush etc. A LOT more than usual. Last night I found two patches on my head where the hair has almost gone altogether! I know its usual to lose a bit of hair after a baby but is it normal to have bald bits and will it grow back soon?

hair loss is normal after having a baby, but as you say you have bald patches you need to go to the doctor i dont mean to worry you but i had alopica and lost all my hair after i had my little boy, this is rare so please dont worry, the doctor can send you to a specialist who can try all sorts of treatments. my hair has no grown back so its not the end of the world if it is alopica. also try zinc tablets these help the immune system which can aid hair growth x
You lose up to 150 hairs a day but when you are pregnant apparently this doesn't happen hence the reputation of pregnant women having thick glossy hair, once the baby arrives all the hair that stayed in during prgnancy then falls out giving an illusion of great hair loss, this usually stops fairly soon but the hair does grow back. It happened to me and it was quite alarming but loopyc is right if you're at all worried see a Doctor.
i went to see the doc after having my boy, apparently hair loss is normal up to 6 months after the birth. but i never had patches that i noticed anyway. go see the doc to put your mind at rest.
When you weare pregnant you probably noticed that your hair was thicker and in great condition (on the whole) that is because whilst you are pregnant your hair doesn't fall out at the usual normal rate, hence why it gets thicker. The hair loss after birth is just catching up with what didnt fall out during the pregnancy. Perfectly normal so don't worry, it'll stop in a few months.
Loopyc - Are Zinc tablets good for hair growth irrespective of whether you have had a baby or not. Can anyone take them (with other medication) or are there side affects ?

im not quite sure , i had them because alopica is an auto immune thing and zinc can help, if you just want a supplement for your hair sillica is really good.
