And I don't think it's too early TTT, fireworks have been going off for weeks round here and the shops have been full of Christmas stuff, also for weeks. So why shouldn't you have a poppy avatar? Like I said, I would, if I could.

tax at 40% boosts to 166% - I do all the charity giving in the family
( grossed up). I cannot resist giving govt money to charities
If you are paying 20% tax - tax £125 at 20% and you magically get back to £100
its a miracle - one of my posts has lasted more than 10 m
sorry PP still don't get it - I read the fift aid gov website which says this: Example
You donate £100 to charity - they claim Gift Aid to make your donation £125. You pay 40% tax so you can personally claim back £25.00 (£125 x 20%).
In that example, the donation is £100 but the charity ends up with £25 more.

As HMRC refunded £25 to the donor, the taxpayer has handed over only £75.

As HMRC topped it up by £50 to £125, that additional £50 is 66% of the £75 donation.

If PP's net contribution (after the refund from HMRC) had been £100, the additional 66% would increase it to £166 which is the figure he quoted.
That makes sense thanks
sozza BN off thread = I will do the calc elsewhere
put it is pukka
Hooray for TTT !
just what we need !
You dont need to as tcl did it up there
Roy, //It's not the changing of the avatar that's virtue signalling, naomi...it's the announcement of the changing of the avatar.//

If TTT wasn’t encouraging others to do likewise to support the cause I might regard it as virtue signalling but as it is I don’t. I think it’s a thoughtful gesture.
I will nearer the time, it's sitting in gravatar ready to use.
