Why do some people when they have a boiled egg in an eggcup use a knife and completely chop nearly a third of the egg off and waste it, I always peel the shell from the top. Can you eggs-plain you're way.

I always chop the top off but I spoon out the inside just like I do with the rest of the egg, so no wastage at all.
Can’t remember the last time I had a boiled egg in an egg cup to dip my soldiers in, must be at least 40 years.
Mind you, the white bit isn’t worth keeping so I think I’d be a thrower awayer.
I am a sheller. I shell half way down which suits me as I like mine hard boiled.
Leave my chopper out of this!
I bash the shell with the egg spoon and then just remove enough to get in. If you do the pointy end not much is wasted.
Like bhg take the top off and spoon it out.
Quite fancy a boiled egg now...
I'm a sheller and I also get the bit out of the top too. These "chopper" types are the same people who only eat the middle of a jacket spud leaving the best bit, death's to good them :)
I bash top with a teaspoon and peel it.
I bash and peel but I'm tempted...

chopping the top off just creates another piece of cutlery to wash up
This caused a war! Ask the Liliputions.c
I'm with vagus on this. Hate the white.

No one chops their egg in half and leaves the chopped bit uneaten do they?
Why would anyone do that?
The real issue is why do some people start from the big and and some from the little end :-)
Most of an eggs nutrition is in the yolk.

Only saw your link after I posted mine Danny...similar information.
Cut the top off with a sharp knife, eat the egg then scoop out the top and eat it last.
Google says:

The egg yolks are known to be where almost all the nutrients and fat are found. However, in addition to these nutrients, the yolk also contains up to about half of the protein content of the egg (3). In a large egg that contains about 7 grams of protein, 3 grams will be coming from the yolk and 4 grams from the white.26 Jan 2017
