Went with girl for our evening walk only to discover that the baby moorhens we’re stuck in the flood defence system. Had to go back home to get himself, a sledge hammer and a jug to rescue them. One broken padlock later and mum, dad and babies were reunited :) Himself has contacted police to explain what we’ve done and I’m currently talking to Welsh Water (as it was their padlock on their CCTV covered property).

A heroic rescue, well done all - they do get in some odd places don't they?

Well done you, let's hope there's no come-back.
Well done. If they pinch you, we’ll set up a GoFundMe for the Sherrard 3 :0)

Welsh Water very helpful, apparently someone there already (police probably informed as we gathered quite a crowd). Told them I would do the same again and asked them to put up contact details for future events - man agreed and was happy that the babies were rescued. He’s going to get someone to rung me tomorrow and let me know what’s happening. Half expecting the police to knock the door!

A police car did pass us as we were walking home, but we thought it was Mod Plod doing their rounds.
Nice one.
Well done you! Flood defence systems need rethinking - you have discovered a weakness in their design.
Well done, you are a hero x

I’m not the one who actually went down the 25ft ladder thing and got them - I left that to himself and boy #1, I was there in a supervising role :)
Oh, lovely, Sherr.
Well done, sherr
How lovely to hear this, well done to you all.
I found an Owl pellet (Well, actually, my dog did). Not quite as exciting.
My grandson would not agree that an owl pellet isn't exciting. He had one which he soaked and carefully took apart. It was amazing how many small animal bones were inside. Fascinating!
Well done Sherr and family.
That's amazing, well done. The birds were lucky when you came along.
