My wife is hard of hearing. Our front door bell is battery operated and not loud. Has anyone any advice as to where I may buy a good loud door bell? Many thanks, Bramley.

Google loud door bells uk. I've just done it, and there are lots of suppliers there.
I bought and installed this for my friend. You just stick the bell on the door and plug in the rest, so when bell rings - you hear it from the nearest plug wherever you are sitting. Very good indeed.

I think the answer might be a wireless doorbell that has a battery in the bell-push and has a separate receiver (the thing that makes the noise) which you can have right next to you if you wish. This can be either plugged into a socket or be battery-powered....the latter for absolute flexibility, because you can take it around the house with you. Lots on Amazon, eBay and presumably Argos.
Don't forget you can get multiple receivers to place in different rooms, to save moving them about.
In my last job working with the vulnerable, a common job request was 'Loud doorbell required .. client is hard of hearing, they all ready have a wireless doorbell, but it doesn't work" .. I had a bucket full of wireless doorbells that I had removed. More often than not the bell push was the issue.
They may be okay when the bell push is fitted in a porch out of the weather, but if it has to be fitted on the front of a building, I would think twice about it and go for a hard wired one instead.
This bell made by Friedland was the one I always fitted when hearing was an issue .. it can be purchased as a battery or mains powered version. It will wake the devil himself .. the mains version will need a transformer fitted.

We have the one jj has given the link to.
We have numerous ding dong plugs throughout the house, and one in the summerhouse at the end of the garden.
The ding dong is quite loud anyway, but having one plugged in right next to you in the living room makes it very easy to hear. We have four throughout the house.
The bell push is also very good. It’s a big button and very positive, unlike some wireless bell pushes.
