I am 62 and if I was in a vulnerable group there is no way I would expect the young to suffer impending economic meltdown heading our way just so I can add a few years to my life. And if I did get it I wouldn't blame the government or Boris or anybody. I would just accept as one of life's risks. Not everybody can be saved, sometimes we have to think of the greater good. So let's get back to normal and hope for the best, if some want to lock themselves away that's up to them. Anyone agree?

// I'm not sure it's what 'the old' expect. The government was responsible,,,,,,they made it without consulting 'the old'.//

the old can expect to DDDIIIIIEEEEE! ( thx to a cross between Vincent price ( any film ) and Gert doo-dah in Goldfinger )

I think we olds
us olds - have had a good deal after fat Boris got it and experienced the whole panoply

The modern Egyptians when the parents get 'too old' ( like you know 60 as the life expectancy is around 55 ) put them in the cellar ( cow byre) with the farm animals - obviously not in Cairo ( tower blocks)

actually thinking about it - I dont know .....
Aren't we discussing the past though? Economy not locked down, schools going back after the hols, shielding no longer necessary from Aug 1st. All around me folk have got builders and men (maybe women) what do stuff making noise and dust, holidays being booked. Yes face coverings in shops and hairdressers, barbers, nailbars and tattoo shops and every single thing not completely open yet....have to say I did snigger about the SCOTTISH test and trace centre being closed due to an outbreak but I stopped sniggering when i found out how close it is to a mate of mine.
Bednobs. Kind of you to ask. I'm very upset, but she rang me and kept on arguing and I kept on saying 'Don't go there', at least 5 times and eventually she used the 'F' word at me so I said 'Goodbye' and put the phone down.

Before my present marriage I was in a horribly abusive relationship which became violent after starting with words (doesn't it always) and I told myself that no-one would ever swear at/denigrate me again. She knows this. That was about 5 weeks ago. Up to her. All she has to do is apologise.
as it's been so long, perhaps you could make the first move?
Sorry, you've probably thought of all this already but for some parents it was an extremely hard decision to send kids back to school or not, with a multi-faceted decision to make, not the least of which being if their children would be safe, perhaps both parents had a different view, perhaps she was getting pressure from other mums/social media too. It's much easier to get cross at those people who are the closest to us (as we know they will forgive us!). My daughter went back in june, and it was a relatively easy decision for us, because we both thought the same (although we did come under some pressure from other people - people implying we didn't care if she was safe or not). I think if my mum had weighed in too it might have been the straw that broke the camel's back. i'm not criticising you, please don't think that, just pointing out that it's not an easy time for parents of young children. Sadly I know from experience how things can change in an instant with families, so don't leave it too long :)
to borrow a question off Bednobs
is this covid?
