Picked at random which I’m very happy to do , they send two test kits to you, first a saliva test, the other a swab test, anyone else got one?
Is this the test the Government keeps on about?

and there is still no guarantee that showing antibodies (you have had it) is the same as having any immunity.
My OH received his test kit yesterday.
as far as i know this particular study is to see whether the govt cam move to saliva tests rather than swab tests - ie do they give the same results. I presume because a slaiva test is either less expensive or less risky (you dont have to provide nurses to do it)
I did my test this morning Bobbi, should hear in about a week or so.
Is their still a criteria of who can be tested? As in NHS, care workers etc? For free that is, as I know you can buy kits.

It would really be more beneficial to know if you’ve had it without the symptoms Marval then you’d have antibodies but if it helps in the survey, I’ll do it
Yes, that is why I did it, I am glad to help.
bednobs - he only has one swab in the kit (I haven't read the paperwork) whereas I had two swabs taken.
I only had one swab, throat first then the nose.

Says I’m to do two Marval
Some seem to be two and some one.
I can't really remember having mine taken. I was a bit out of it :-)
Bedknobs I think the big advatage with the saliva test is that folk are more likely to do it correctly or, for that matter, at all. I know a couple of folk who did their best with the swab test but it took a few attempts to get a good result. I could tolerate the up the nose one but there is no way I could do the back of the throat one without vomiting and I am a sensible adult. Getting back of the throat swabs from children and people with various types of cognitive damage must be very difficult too.
I had the antibody test in my hospital, and iv'e never had it, but two of my colleagues tested positive for it but had no symptoms, one did say that back in Jan/feb she felt a little unwell, worse than a cold but not as bad as flu and she lost her sense of taste and smell for a while (before it became a known symptom), so testing is not always conclusive.

I’ve had no symptoms at all webbo but as it’s a randomly selected test, I’m very happy to participate

Well if you were in hospital and a ' bit out of it' one could have been the routine MSRA swab as well as a covid one.
