The factory that distributes poultry etc has an outbreak of Covid. It supplies all the major supermarkets. How can I find out if my fresh chicken from Tesco and curry from Waitrose bought this week are supplied by them and infected?? And would cooking kill the virus?? Thanks all, being a bit paranoid!

Cooking will surely kill it and freezing probably will. It will only last on the surface of the chicken or packaging for a couple of days at most anyway so by the time you buy it the pack should be fine- unless an infected customer has also handled it in the store
Viruses don’t infect dead things.
The only way you could catch in off something inanimate would be if it rested on a surface for a while but that’s not going to be a problem with the chicken I wouldn’t have thought
As said, cooking will swiftly kill any virus, if imparted to the chicken during handling (not likely). That leaves packaging - wash your hands well whenever you have touched items which have been brought into the home within the last 48-60 hours. Hand washing at regular intervals, and/or especially when active, is always good practice in any case, Covid or no Covid.

Yes you are, smurfchops. You're not alone and I don't blame you. Mass paranoia and hysteria has gripped the nation and it is making previously perfectly sane and normal people behave in the oddest of ways. Much of the blame for this must rest with the government who seem unwilling to quell such feelings. It obviously suits them to have a population that is scared witless and will acquiesce to their every demand as they introduce pointless and unenforceable measures to "keep us safe". Couple this with the behaviour of local authorities and large concerns such as transport organisations who deem it fit to "gold plate" the regulations and rigorously enforce guidance as if they were law and you can see just why the government needs a compliant population.
The biggest scandal of the lot is the obstruction to the reopening of the schools by teaching unions.
Not to mention having a complete cipher as education minister
^^^completely agree; the teaching unions are an absolute disgrace - they’re playing politics with the education of children and should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.

I heard on the radio this morning that there hasn’t been a single confirmed case of a child passing on Covid to a teacher anywhere (not just the UK) since schools were re-opened.
There's plenty of information on line about the 2 Sisters organisation. Have a look at Wikipedia on this subject.
How about children passing it on to their parents?
the facts seem to be that its difficult to say but cheldren appear not to play a significant part in transmission https://fullfact.org/health/covid-19-in-children/
//the facts seem to be that its difficult to say but cheldren appear not to play a significant part in transmission//

And even if they did, that is no justification for summarily suspending the education of around 7m children for six months - at least.
Indeed not NJ
yes cooking will kill the virus

oh dear
are you planning to eat your offspring ?
anyway cooking well should do the trick
If the chicken had caught the virus the virus would have died with the chicken
