If I believed in god then I would say no he isn’t. He gave humans free will and it is that free will that creates most of the worlds suffering in one form or another. However in a blame culture he is to blame because he could stop the suffering in an instant.

As an Atheist there is no god and it’s all down to human nature and instinct. It is an instinct to group ourselves together in ‘like’ groups. We instinctively see protection within our ‘like’ group. Those not in our ‘like’ group are the enemy and at best viewed with caution. With the right conditions that can escalate to outright Hate and all that that ensues.

If you want humans to leave instinct behind you will have to wait over time to breed out that instinct.

There is something to forcing change more quickly via the use of coercion. Force people to change but that will still take probably two generations at least, maybe even three or more.

Bash people over the head with what you want them to think and the older they are the less likely to change attitudes. The younger they are the easier it is to indoctrinate. However that is just a surface dressing. Instinct will take a lot of genetic modification to eradicate.

But tbh I think it depends on what sort of suffering you are thinking of. Some suffering has nothing to do with ‘like’ groups and more to do with a predilection to a specific act though.
It's great that atheists and believers both agree on something - that the source of evil isn't god.
//It's great that atheists and believers both agree on something - that the source of evil isn't god. //

If I believed in God I wouldn't agree on that. See my post at 09:22 Fri 05th Jun.
//If I believed in God I wouldn't agree on that.//

Sounds like you fall into the atheist part of my assertion then.

I’m pretty sure that there are no believers that blame all the suffering in the world on god so the trail is still there to blaze.
Archbaldy - God could have created robots with no free will, but he didn't.
He gave us free will so we could choose to love ourselves, or love God and do His will.
His will is that we obey Him by loving each other, therefore not robots, but also capable of choosing evil.
Hence the mess the world is in.
For stating this, which is my belief, I get lambasted for, ''Preaching, '' yet these are the bare facts put in simple terms.
Of course the atheists don't like the message, so they shoot the messenger.
Do you agree, or am I missing something?
Surely the main problem that people have with you is that you are completely incapable of acknowledging that you *could* actually be wrong. That it is possible that there is no god. That you have completely wasted your time believing in something that doesn't exist.

What if the Jews are right? They are, after all, God's chosen people. It's in the Bible.
JimF - I see your point, but me stating what I believe should not be a cause for offence surely?
I do not get angry with atheists for not sharing my beliefs.
Its supposed to be a friendly conversation, not an adversarial battle with winners and losers.
Is it?
"but [me] my stating what I believe should not be a cause for offence surely?"

The problem that people have with you, it seems to me, that you won't shut up about it! Opinions / beliefs are like aholes - everybody has one, nobody wants to hear anybody else's, especially more than once.

"I do not get angry with atheists for not sharing my beliefs."

Ah but you do! Or, at least, that's how you come across. I can't believe you don't realise that.

"Its supposed to be a friendly conversation, not an adversarial battle with winners and losers."

It is, yes. But alas, in your case...

"Is it?"

Not where you are concerned, I'm afraid. You have now demonstrated that you are a complete and total ignorant bigoted racist nut-job - we've all seen the posts, and your excuse that you were a bit worse for wear doesn't cut no ice.

I surely don't need to post links to the posts again, do I...?
This is R&S so what are we supposed to talk about?
And racist bigot?
No.
Nationalist yes.
Borders nor beliefs never made a inerrant nation. Reason is the only means for discerning what is and what should never be.
//Sounds like you fall into the atheist part of my assertion then.//

Simply a logical process, eg:

//He gave us free will//

But God created everything so if he hadn’t created that option and all that goes with it, free will wouldn’t have existed and therefore would have been unavailable to give. A surreptitious mouthful of apple crumble, and voila! He cannot be absolved from responsibility.

Naomi24 If I believed he existed, yes I would. Why? He told us he’s responsible. Why don't you believe him?

I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things. //Isaiah 45:7
LOCUSTS this the answer to your question at Isaiah 45:7
Myth: Satan works for God as a “prosecuting attorney.”
Fact: The Devil is God enemy, not his servant
Fact The Bible shows that God did not create { invented } the Devil. Instead, He created the person who became the Devil.
John 8:44, Jesus said that the Devil “did not stand fast in the truth,” implying that Satan had at one time been truthful and guiltless.
C/p GOD , however, can be said to create evil, because the term “evil” can be used to designate not only “moral badness or offence; wrongdoing; wickedness”, but also “anything impairing happiness or welfare or depriving of good; injury; disaster”. (Webster’s Unabridged Dictionary) In view of the foregoing scriptures showing that GOD is just and righteous we must conclude that the evil that he creates must be that of calamity and disaster??
FACT the bible show at { ASV } Ezekiel 28.13 -15  Thou wast in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, the topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was in thee; in the day that thou wast created they were prepared.14  Thou wast the anointed cherub that covereth: and I set thee, so that thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.15  Thou was unrightness { iniquity }was found in thee.16  By the abundance of thy traffic they filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore have I cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God; and I have destroyed thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.17  {Thy heart was lifted up because of thy beauty; thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: }I have cast thee to the ground; I have laid thee before kings, that they may behold thee.
Locusts, I've given you one short verse that tells you, in no uncertain terms, what is alleged to have happened. You can copy and paste whatever you like and you can play with words as much as you like - but be assured there are no 'facts'.

Naomi. 24 [GOD ] invented the Devil
locusts But the devil is evil ?? But GOD didn t create him evil or invented him .
He was created as a Spiritual son {perfect in the beginning }.Ezekiel 28.13 -15
The question you asked in the beginning .is different from the question you are asking now . { DID god create evil .} these are two separate questions which I tried to answer in a
logical way
to the scripture you are refferring to it is correect Isaiah 45:7 {yes} calamity and destruction has been brought upon those who turned against the Creator
and said there is no God .
Locusts, if God created everything and evil exists in any form, it follows that he must have created evil as well as everything else. He told you he did. Why don’t you believe him?

Ironically, as you very well know, that is exactly what the atheists on here say about the fervent Christians on here.

There is only one difference - you as the Christian side, feel the need to convince the atheist side that you are 'right'.

If the Christians stopped posting topics, the only person left posting would be Nailit, who has a curious mind.

The rest of us honestly don't care, and would not waste valuable time asking unanswerable questions and getting meaningless responses from people who can't answer them
