Bearing in mind the location of this atrocity (Black and Irish community) and the fact that it is an Operation Trident investigation (Black on Black shooting) I hope the arresting officer will be of ethnic origin. For the sake of justice!!.
But where are BLM in this matter. This family had already lost a family member by shooting.
Does BLM ignore the killing of Black people if the perpetrator is one of their own?

//..At least they are being honest and not defending the indefensible. //

Absolutely. There's nothing worse than people trying to defend the indefensible.

Yes tomus42 .
I wonder if you are one of those who try to persuade us that there is a distinction between rabid looters and arsonists and those who are allegedly engaging in peaceful protest (as is their right).
The last two nights I watched 'peaceful protesters' on the TV news at Washington DC.
There were lines of National Guard Officers,Police, and Military lined up and stock still protecting the White House. That is simply their job.
There was a blatant display of 'peaceful agitators' goading and provoking these officers by getting up close and personal and thrusting their cell phones into the officer's faces.
They should thank their lucky stars the officers were disciplined enough not to get sucked into a deliberate attempt to retaliate.
As I wrote earlier they thrive on the 'blame game' and should one of those officers have lost it our peace loving protesters would denied all responsibility for their own actions.
I have been there. I recall Greenham Common where I was linking arms with my colleagues. We were preventing 'peaceful activists' from penetrating the perimeter chain link wire of the air base.
Very ugly and obese so called females regularly emerged from their stinking tents, approached us, and rubbed used sanitary towels in our faces around our mouth area. Their hope was we broke ranks and retaliated. Of course they generally did it when the media was filming.
Yes. I recognise deliberate provocation whatever the protesters label themselves.
Instead of all this nonsense, just get off your soap boxes and
tell us How is this young child is ?

There's no need to wonder. You just have to look at everything I've ever posted since the protests & riots started (there isn't that much), and see if you're right.

I also wonder if you're one of the those who are trying to act as an apologist for the policeman that suffocated someone to death by kneeling on their neck (it took nine minutes apparently) that was in handcuffs and held down by two other people at the same time.
Last heard Clare, the little lad was in a coma - probably a medically induced one to enable him to have a decent chance of recovery.

I pray he does.

I most certainly do not justify or defend the actions of a Police officer in those circumstances. I regret that happened as much as I regret watching an undignified mob riot. The officer and his cohorts have been indicted. The authorities even managed to find a more serious murder charge for the main offender. There is nothing more to be done in the U.S. except let justice take it's course. Of course there are those in society who believe the law and regulations, rules guidelines do not apply to them.
Thank you, I pray he recovers, shall light a candle of Hope.
Thanks Retrocop. I have seen people on here trying to do that, and I am glad you're not one of them. For my part I have never said anything to support looting or rioting.

Perhaps it is the Police Dept that should be called to account. A lawful restraint procedure that may of accidentally been applied incorrectly.
That, surely,is for judicial process to decide and not a looting, baying lynch mob. Far more dignified and respectful to Mr George Floyd isn't it?

//But the Minneapolis department does allow officers to compress “one or both sides of a person’s neck with an arm or leg, without applying direct pressure to the trachea or airway,” according to a section of the manual that is marked as last being updated in 2012. It calls the method a “non-deadly force option.”//

Nine minutes is quite some time to continue with an accident. At some point common sense and humanity has to come into the equation, irrespective of whatever training one is given. I'm sure you know that from your own experience. As you say, the judicial process must decide.
Are we talking UK or USA?

Black men are more likely to be killed by other black men.
White men are more likely to be killed by police than black men.
For the combined years of 2017 to date US police have killed 1398 white people and 755 black people.

This is I think a little out of date but still relevant today.

At the time of this article, half of all murders were by black people but black people were only 12 - 13% of the population. It would be interesting for up to date figures and if I find any I’ll pass them on.
