I dont have a general opinion, I judge everyone on how I find them as individuals. I have worked with many Muslim doctors over the years and all I can say is our NHS would be in a sorry state without them and all other foreign health professionals.
i dont care if a person has 5 heads, if they dont bother me i dont bother them, there are a lot of bandwagon jumpers as regards muslims, as long as my fray bentos is ready for when i get home im happy
I have worked with Muslims in the past, and have the same opinion on them as I do anyone ~ some have been lovely, warm individuals & some have been obnoxious twarts.

I have never let anyones religion influence my opinions on people. I take each and every one on their own merits.
i sort of agree with wm, in essence, just not a vehemently and i believe that there are many good muslims, its just a shame that they get tarred with the same brush as the rotten ones.

i lived in bradford for a while and i was a minority there and was treated like scum along with all my other white british friends, so i know how 'closed ranks' and horrible that can be.
it wasn't just fear and abuse on the streets, it was shop-keepers being rude and charging extra because you were white, even had a pube placed in my chips, because i was white, among other minor but upsetting incidents.
I have had muslim employees all of whom I've found to be very conscientous and hardworking, I rent property to some Muslim families and they are also fine, I have muslim friends who I consider some of my closest. However I have taken exception to 2 Muslims on seperate occasions and came to blows with them, once when my wife got into an argument with a guy trying to stop her going into our local bookshop in London who was manning an anti-Israel "stall" for want of a better word outside Waterson's in Gower St, because she was wearing a star of David he seemed to think it was ok to abuse her ( she's Jewish), and once outside a nightclub when a guy was bothering a girl. On neither occasion however did I take it that their attitudes were at all representative of the whole of the Muslim faith so generally I get on well with Muslims and have no problem with them, I think they are mostly very nice people.
I agree with wm on the majority, i work with ex-amount and they even play the race card their {railways} and believe me the railways are not racist, they were one of the 1st to take on west indians in the 50's

Their is a muslim at our place {hes a fitter} and he believes the railways are discriminating against him because he can't pray during WORKING HOURS has he not heard of the word productivity from employees, i have some very good muslim friends by the way who classify themselves as british 1st, they actually laugh at their own religion, one said if he wanted to he would use is colour and religious beliefs to get what he wants, tho he was quick to say he never has adopted this approach but many he knows do abuse the RACE CARD

With a name like azif I presume you are a British Muslim. My general view is that they are not Brithish.Just because thewy were born here does not make them British. They are of foreign descent so are foreign.Nothing wrong with that I am foreign.
Yeah but you weren't born in Britain were you?

The poster may well be playing on words too....az-if. I don't know. Not your place to presume.
When I worked for the civil service I worked with many Muslims, and found all bar a couple of them thoroughly lovely people. The couple who weren't were men who had a bad attitude towards all women in the workplace and hated my being their boss. I was informed by several female Muslims that this was more cultural than religious, and was more to do with how their family viewed their position in society.
A lot of problems with Muslims are mistaken for being religion based. Burkha's (sp) generally are a choice of the female, I've known many to show their hair, never mind their face, but then most people wouldn't know they were Muslim so they don't count. I was also told that the covering of hair and/or face is a cultural matter, not religious, though I may have been told wrong.
I fully understand why some people are worried, there are some real nutters out there, but they're not all Muslim!

You can't create a group called "British Muslims" or "Muslims" in my opinion. Its like saying "do you work with People? What is your general opinion about them and their character?" ... and I do work with "them".
British - nationality.
Muslim - religion.

Would you say the same about Arab Catholics, African Christians, Australian Rastas?

The two are totally different - why can't somebody be a Muslim AND British?

My sister-in-law has converted to Muslim - I don't agree with it personally but she wouldn't blow up planes as she believes the non-extremist view - as most do.

Live and let live, let the authorities deal with the psychos, and lets back them up (the authorities)!!
Hi, my partner is muslim, i am not. Although I don't work with him I know he works very well with his collegues and he is very hard working and very considerate of those he works for and with. He believes that he is being paid to do a job and does it very well, he has said that would feel that he has robbed the company and cheated on the public he works with if he doesn't do his job properly. However, he does say that the majority of the people that he works with are very lazy, these are all English and non-muslim. If there is any overtime at work he will do his fair share and make sure that he doesn't take it all and that it is shared amongst those that want to do it. In my opinion, the muslim people that I know are on the whole, kind, considerate, thoughtful people. Just to add another comment if you are pregnant and the partner of a muslim man you are treat like a princess by him and his friends, you would want for nothing, the same goes for when the child has arrived. I'm sure there are good and bad in all faiths, people should be judged on their own character and not on their religion.
women may choose the burkhas - but it is because it has been so ingrained in their psyche as being the way women 'should' be, that it has become a way for them to feel proud and be seen to be doing the right thing, that they will be frowned upon if they don't

no person in their right mind would choose to wear an entire body covering burkha for no reason.
