Suing China. That's hilarious. It sounds like an ingenious way for whoever runs Missouri to funnel public money to their friends in the legal profession.
I've no idea how it works, but China has quite a few assets dotted across the globe. Maybe it's possible with mutual co-operation that they could be frozen/seized in those countries.
we need China, it's as simple as that, with the production of PPE for starters, as to suing them, that's absurd, unless you do seize assets, someone must have been asked to come up with this nonsense, and i for one can't see how on earth it can be implemented.
"we need China, it's as simple as that"

Sorry, but that is a defeatist attitude. OK in some areas we are a little stuck but now is the prime time to take back control. Production of PPE could easily be done here - if we had a mind to do it. And it would be of merchantable quality too. Problenm is the useless NHS managers just want dirt cheap products they can pay a fortune for some reason.
I certainly think we need a plan to reduce our reliance on China. I was agreeing with sentiments , youngmafbog, but I can't work out what your last bit means ("Problenm is the useless NHS managers just want dirt cheap products they can pay a fortune for some reason. ")
It means the contract price is often light years from that which would be paid on the high street for the same item.
Thanks dougie so it means we are paying over the odds and furthermore the items are of inferior quality. I don't know whether that's true in general or at all but I think this episode has highlighted the need for any enquiry to look at what Procurement Managers have been doing because they don't seem to have sufficient stocks or reliable sources
Got it now, YMB- just add another FOR to your last sentence and it's fine
A lot of the extra cash is to guarantee continuity of supply and a high level of service.

Working well so far.
