A black hole is just a star that's collapsed due to its own gravity. As such, at the other side of the black hole is just more space. And probably some stars, planets, etc.

thanks
i'm probably wrong, usually am, but i thought black holes were still a theory, though its said you cant see them, just seems like an excuse for me
It's accepted theory. Everything in science is a theory. There are still many matters up for debate about them though.
I'd buy fo3nix's explanation with the exception of "the other side..." Theory right now, doesn't have an explanation for what happens once matter enters the black hole or even the event horizon. ..
Yep, the black hole horizon acts like a barrier to information. Because nothing can escape from the black hole everything within it is permanently disconnected from us.

problem is that no theories extend to the singularity at the centre of a black hole, and therefore can't predict what's past it.
I'm popping out into space later, I'll see if I can find one and drive through.
nobody knows what a black hole is.......theories are all we have
