If two gigantic black holes came into each others sphere of influence ,what would happen, would one destroy the other , can a black hole be destroyed?

Colliding black holes is *the* hot area of astronomy right now.

General relativity predicts that gravity should be carried by waves but nobody has ever observed them. This is because they are so incredibly feeble.

It's reckoned that colliding black holes are one of the best chances we have of seeing them and there are a few experiments around the world trying to catch them.

LIGO is one of these experiments
