As a racist – sorry – straight white male, I find the demonisation of us racists – whoops again, straight white males – terribly disheartening. In fact, I find it downright infuriating.
I'm sick to the back teeth (white ones, of course) of hearing that I'm racist for believing that discriminating against any person or group based solely on the colour of their skin is racist but when that very same discrimination is directed at white people, that's apparently tickety-boo. I was always brought up to believe that discrimination based on skin colour was inherently and unequivocally racist. Did I miss the memo that overturned that definition? I must have because now I'm being told by some quarters that it's not only fine and dandy to discriminate against white people based solely on their melanin levels, but that it's racist for white people to complain about this mistreatment and call it out for what it is – racism.
I've just read about about a senior police officer – a black woman – who has just been sacked from the Met for having, and I chose my words carefully here, a video showing inappropriate sexual activity with a minor, on her phone that was allegedly sent to her by her sister. Several months after being found guilty of possessing this kind of material, she was eventually sacked. Now, the 'National Black Police Association' have cried foul and said that her sacking was racially motivated.
Why in the hell is there a 'National Black Police Association'? Isn't that inherently racist in and of itself? If someone proposed a 'National White Police Association' it would be immediately, loudly and publicly decried as a racist organisation. And I would wholeheartedly agree. It would be because even if they allowed non-whites to be members – the title of the organisation suggests that it is a club that is exclusively for white skinned people only. So too the “NPBA”.
I unequivocally denounce racism in all its forms. It is an illogical, discriminatory, divisive cancer on society.
That includes racism against whites.
