Are you sure the SSTC sign has not just blown off? They usually just add the small SSTC sign to the large for sale sign. Signage companies work on 2-3 days so if you house sale had fallen through then you should have been told before the signage company. Phone your estate agents that would have been my first reaction.

it means that you accepted an offer to sell it but that it's fallen through
Agents love to put STC on the board because it's good advertising for them.

I'm sorry that it's fallen through, Postie.
If they haven’t told you, I’d strongly recommend a change of estate agents. purple bricks are v good.

Wish I could change estate agent. Signed up to these for 12 weeks. Five weeks to run on contract. So it's a pity other agents can't get involved I have tried.

Why would you want to change Agents if they have got you a buyer within 6 weeks - that's pretty good going!

It's not been put back on the estate agents website. The estate agents put up a new board this morning. The other board showed sold to contract.zoopla still showing sold to contract.
good point APG, it's been plenty windy (near me, anyway). Ring the estate agents for further details.

Because they hadn’t told him the sale had fallen thru (unless the ‘blown off by the wind’ theory is correct).
Sorry postman but before I retired I was in Estate Agency for a very long time and rest assured, if your sale had fallen through then you would be one of the first to know along with your conveyancing solicitor. It costs approx. £40 to erect a For Sale sign and therefore when the property is SSTC a small sign is added to the original sign. How far along was your sale?

The house has been on the housing market Aunt Polly since 4th January. Offer accepted two weeks ago. Stc put on for sale board. Probate is still going through as my dad died in November.
Have you rung the Agent?
STC - they wont accept offers
and now they will
so sort of good news BUT sales may dry up because of coroma .....
No good speculating, ring the agent, that’s what they’re there for.
Just to be pedantic -its SSTC Sold Subject to Contract. This means the seller has decided to take the property off the market and not accept any more offers, even from people who have already viewed the property.
