I’m 17, turning 18 soon and he’s 26. We aren’t together we’re just on “talking terms”. It’s legal as I’m over 16, how could I break this news to my mum? She’s pretty understanding but idek how she would go around this. He is a great person and we so much in common, I’m falling for him ..

Similar age gap between me and my daughters father. I was 17 and he was 27. My parents, and they are/were lovely parents, didn't say a thing. As long as he treats you well, that's the main thing.

As ummmm says, it’s fine. Just introduce him as you would anyone else.

Whats your dad like though ?
Ummmm is right, you have chosen the best answer - it's about who he is not how old he is.
Age gaps can work, but take it slowly, you just need to be extra sure. I agree just introduce him to your parents don't mention the age gap.
I was just about to say what Rowan says, why mention his age at all? Just introduce him, nobody would ask him to his face "How old are you?" Later when they ask you, you can smile & be a bit vague.
It's all very well giving the standard AB all accepting answer but it's a fair question as many parents would indeed at least raise an eyebrow with that news from their 16 year old daughter, however misguided. You will know their likely opinion better than us.
^^^...but, she's not 16. She's said that she's 18 soon.
All the BFs my daughter has had have been older than her. Her first long term boyfriend was about 8 years older, they were together 3 years or so. I never asked his age as he came across as a nice, genuine person.
OK she's 17 and of course you are all right. Why should xelll worry, her parents are obviously going to be fine with it.
As already said, how your parents react, will depend on their thoughts and beliefs ...... you're the only person on here to know the answer to that !!!!

Age gaps do work .... only 6 years between me and my missus though - she was 18 and I was 24 ..... and nearly 30 years later we're still together.

My sister in law was 20 when she started dating a 40 year old ..... that raised a few eyebrows. 30+ years together and 2 children, they were still together last year, when he sadly passed away in his 70's

By the way I lost my dad when I was young which I why I said break the news to my mum. but I have a stepdad. I mean there’s about 8/9 years difference between him and my mum. She’s 44 and he’s 51?52?
There was a 15 year age gap between my husband and I and we had 3 wonderful children and were together for 30 years. Always think age is just a number. As Cloverjo said, just introduce him as you would anyone else.
