Have not used above camera for few years. was wanting to play back some old video. no sound on playback. mute is off. volume at max. no sound

How are you playing it? Using the camera screen, connecting the camera to a TV or have you taken out the memory card and playing it on your computer?

It might be worth trying it on your TV, there are usually leads supplied with cameras to do this, or to put the memory card into your computer.
