I was shocked when I saw this on the news earlier and although the woman caught him off guard when she pulled him towards her, was he right to smack her hand like that?
He has since apologised but it's not really something you would expect to see from the Pope.

What about irreligious nutters? Don't tempt me.
It is disgusting so why you would try hide such a connection is beyond me.

Justify what you want, and justify what you don't. Seems you will anyway but I can see the double standards even if others can't.

Naomi libel isn't illegal in the UK, so unless the Pope wants to take me to court over defamation I suggest you stop signalling a virtue.

Looks like someone found a chink in his armour. Poor security by the Swiss Guard. Natural reaction when grabbed painfully by surprise.
I'd have loved it if he'd given her a right hook, John Prescott style.
I thought that you could still be sued for libel or slander.
A right hook would have been better :-)
