I am a full time carer for my wife, However due to financial circumstances i have had to find a job and returned to work full time. My Carers allowance will stop when i Start on Tues 15th Aug 2006.

Does anyone Know if a relative may apply to become her carer in my abscence as she will require to be supervised when i'm at work. till 5 pm. My relative is currently receiving Jobseekers allowance but is limited to the Hours of work she can actually physically do, due to her own slight fitness levels.

Will her own jobseekers allowance be affected or not???? or is there any extra money paid on top of carers allowance to offset this?

Certainly a relative can apply to be your wifes carer, same conditions would apply as you receiving the benefit.

however this person cannot receive JSA and carers allowance as they can't be available for work and be a f/t carer for your wife. there are certain rules within CA that allow the carer to work p/t so it is worth looking into.

contact your local jobcentre or Carers allowance office on 08457 123456
If you haven't done already You shoud contact your local Social Services and ask for an assesment - you may be entilted for extra help.
