Twatcher knew the consequences of closing down lots of coal mines. The UK would have to make up the loss of production by importing huge quantities of coking coal from Poland, South Africa and Australia to fire the power stations. Her actions were deliberately and vindictively aimed at throwing millions of her own people onto the scrap heap. It was the only way she could think of - crash 'em: smash 'em: and burn 'em. Falklands Factor style thinking. Try telling all those millions whose lives she ruined that she saved this country. She ruined the industrial base of this country so that her husband and his cronies could make millions of pounds out of peoples' misery. Was that the only option ashe could think of? There is mention earlier of people like Derek Robinson. Was that the only way to rid the company of him and others like him? Close the whole thing down and put thousands out of work? She had no intention of doing anything else. Her and the likes of Airey Neave became obsessed with ruining working people after the power cuts of the early 70's. They were on a mission to destroy working people and the Trade Unions. Business plans had nothing to do with it. It was vindictiveness to the point point of tyranny. Tear her statue down and throw it in the sea.
