External Hardrive For Lap Top.

I need to buy a terabyte external hard drive for my lap top.

I will be using it to store and access MP3 music files.

I have looked on the web, and they all seem pretty much the same in terms of spec and price - any recommendations anyone?

Over the years I have found Western Digital hard drives and external HD to be more reliable than Seagate for example.

Ever considered an SSD ? I'm awaiting delivery of a Samsung 860 EVO 2 TB one as a replacement system drive. I'm hoping it'll suit me. Although you may not need the faster speed.

I estimate you should get around 200,000 mp3 audio tracks on a 1TB drive, obviously depending on the compression and length of tracks.

More expensive, but very rugged and super-portable if you expect to carry it with you on gigs (or whatever).

If you expect to use it at your desk and not carry it around, then it's not worth the expense.
