Wants a clampdown on landlords but he owns a 3/4 million home in London and a holiday home in Norfolk.

Can't get the link to work but it's in today's Daily Mail

"He and his wife just keep it for their families. They come up here quite regularly for weekends, especially in the summer. "

Doesn't sound like it's empty that often.
According to the link, it is used by family for holidays and McDonnell and his wife when they want to escape the hustle and bustle of life in Westminster. He could make quite a bit of money letting the place, but he does not. He is not a landlord and the link says; "They come up here quite regularly at the weekends, especially in the summer." Hardly and empty property, then. Another non-story, in my very humble opinion, of course.
If he uses it regularly or irregularly doesn’t matter. He has two properties yet he is advocating compulsory purchasing at vastly below market value other peoples property for no other reason than they let it out to homeless people.

This is typical of communists and socialists mantra as do as I tell you not as I do.
//Is he a landlord?//

No but Bliar and the wicked witch own, and let, quite a property portfolio. Wonder if he has run this past the messiah first. Just the usual 6th form politics rhetoric from a wannabe revolutionary.
He's not a landlord and the property is often used by him and others. How does that conflict with his proposed policies?
When he made his statement about empty properties, was he not talking about those properties that have stood empty for some time. There is one on my street that has been empty as long as i have lived here - just over 20 years. About 6 weeks back, work began on the property and i am led to believe that it will shortly be sold or leased out. 20 years!
Just read a comment from McDonnell spokesman that refers to the second home as a shed! Would be great to have a shed like that right on the riverside!
// 3/4 million home in London is not extravagant//

it is if you dont have £750 000 ! hur hur hur

I wonder what his position is on IHT ....
If he couldn't afford it he wouldn't have bought it.
He might have bought it years ago, ummmm. Ours cost a five-figure sum decades ago; it’s probably not too far off seven figures now. It’s just a flat in a semi and we’ve certainly done nothing to increase its value.
I know. My granddad had houses which he bought for a few thousand.
oh ...... yeah
did nt think of that
