Renewing My Ehic Card

Just tried renewing my card and my husband's online thinking it was free. IT looked like it was an ehic website. At the end I was asked for £35 . Is this correct? I have also tried ringing them but have to speak to a robot. If the renewal is free can someone please give me the correct website for renewals?

You must have been on one of the spoof scam websites. Do not pay.

As the others have said, no, it's free. Look for the real website on the back of present card.

beware, it may not work after a no-deal Brexit. You should really have travel insurance as well anyway.

I always have travel insurance so do I need the EHIC card as well?

Many insurance policies assume you make full use of EHIC entitlements and anything over and above is between you and the insurer. EHIC WILL cease to cover UK passport holders the moment the UK leaves the EU unless a deal to keep it going is reached.

EHICis likely to cease after a No Deal Brexit but may well be covered by a Deal Brexit.
The benefit of EHIC card is that it covers for existing conditions which many travel insurance policies do not.
That and it's free.
I've renewed mine but have travel insurance as well.
