I bought a 90p water-pistol, and sprayed him in the face when he barked. Now all we have to do is say "Water pistol" and he goes quiet.
I think he is just protecting you and your property. Mine do the same and it is quite annoying sometimes. But if anyone tried to enter your home and you taught your dog not to bark then they wouldn't be doing their job.
I live in a busy hotel and have a one year old puppy he's a brilliant little dog ( quiet ) when we are busy and the hotel is full of noise and bustle - he ignores the guest bell at reception and barks loudly at the trades door when the bell rings - all things the way it should be - but I too have a problem in that now it is summer, the dog goes out side to play and the neighbour started to feed him treats - now he barks constantly at the gate for her to give him more - and he has just started to bark at his ( treat drawer ) I try not to give in but when we have guests to serve it's easier to than to have the guests think he's unruly - I have asked the neighbour to stop feeding him which she said she has but I think she slips them to him - How can I break him of this habit I have moved the treat drawer but he just sniffs it out

Please help
It is a training process you must go thru to get your dog to stop barking ON COMMAND. They will still bark when you are not there to warn off intruders, and will keep barking if YOU let them. Instructions are fairly long and AB doesn't let you post long answers, but if you go to http://orangedog.forumup.com/index.php?mforum= orangedog
and post this question it can be answered. Depending on the breed of dog and age and why it's barking are all clues to why and how to stop it. The more detailed info you can supply the better.
