We have new neightbours next door, new house, just been built. It will not stop barking. They dont seem to care, just say oh come on (whatever its name is) stop that in a real soft voice.

Usually it barks at me, if I step outside, if I speak, if I drive my car into the sideway, and get out. I find I am creeping around and closing all doors so as to not start the damn thing off. My own lovely dog, seems a bit unsure of the noise and stays in alot, whereas he usually would lay in the sun if it was warm.

We have a high fence between us, so its constant barking at the side of the fence. Sometimes, they go in and the dog is barking cos it wants to be let in and they ignore it.

Is there anything I can do? I have spoken to them, and they are not bothered, not going to do anything at all (thats their attitude/not what was said.

Is there a whiste I can buy that I can blow when dog barks / that humans cant hear. At the moment I am thinking of putting music on full blast by the fence if I want to go into my garden.

## Just a suggestion Kassee - could you offer to walk it during the day with your own dog or even look after it while they are at work so it wouldn't be so bored and unhappy, you're obviously a dog lover - what do you think ? ## That is one of the worst helpful answers I have ever heard on here!!!!!

The dog is obviously unhappy and bored, so all other suggestions so far should be tried - especially offering to take the dog out for a quick walk. How would we feel if left alone for 9 hours every day?

I am unhappy about suggesting this, but an 'anti-bark collar' would stop the barking, but it would leave an even unhappier dog in this case.

I'm having to use this (on professional advice) to stop our terrier's 'fear-aggression' against other dogs (history is well-known on here and we have been driven to this). I hate it, because he gets frightened, but it works.

We can give our little dog reassurance after his outbursts, this poor dog would be left alone to cope - so I think it would be cruel unless the owners agree to do it properly. Poor dog.
jourdain, i don’t think much of your professional. All the collar will do is suppress the behaviour and as you so rightly say make your dog more scared.
Two words to solve the problem. Laxative chocolate.

why? It may not be possible but its not a bad idea.
Really shocked you are using an anti-bark collar Jourdain and even more shocked a 'professional' advised you to use it.
Jourdain - when you say anti bark do you mean the electric shock collar, or the vibrate collar or even the spray collar?
stefos - laxative chocolate?? Who for? The owners I hope.
Totally against anti-bark collars!

Kassee - has anything helped ?
Christ, is it still barking?
No idea Ken, Kassee's not been back on.

Hi again. The people next door are not at work, the lady is home all day, and the man is home most of the time, I think he may be retired. The dog is shut outside in the garden alot. When the couple are both out - it is heaven - the dog barks indoors and I cant really hear it at the same pitch.

To be very clear on this barking - it is loud and aggressive and is right by my fence, aimed at me. It barks when I open my back door, if I step outside in my garden, either front or back. My dog has begun to dislike entering into the garden, and being aggresively barked at. At other times it is barking when we are indoors. as late as 11 oclock at night. I have young children and far too busy to be walking the neighbours dog.

Hypognosis - this is not an inconvenience - I think you misunderstand the situation all together. It is making me want to cry, it is making me on tenderhooks everytime I need to go outside. I hate it. I cannot use my garden at all, not even to hang washing on the line. A snarling, growling, nasty dog.
I have the same problem. The Yorkie next door can start a tirade of irrate yapping at the drop of a newspaper and this goes on f o r h o u r s. Eventually, it blends into the background. It's pointless berating Max' owners, a nice elderly couple so instead i use the constant disturbances as mild leverage : they are retired and often at home tending the garden so they have become my Amazon dropoff point (their suggestion) and in return i say that "i'm getting used to the barking". Hopefully Max will be around for a long while yet.
