The word 'bacon' comes from the Old Teutonic word 'bakon' and there was also 'baconem' in medi�val Latin as well as 'bacon' in Old French. So, we call it what we do because of the historical linguistic connections.

The reason Birds Eye frozen foods are so called is because one Clarence Birdseye was the first to produce frozen foods on a commercial basis. Read about it here
