Very Large Black Bee

I saw what I thought was a bumble bee but when I got a closer look it was completely black and much larger, about 2 inch
Google search suggests Carpenter Bee but those pictures don,t look like what I saw it was not furry enough

There two main kinds of carpenter bee. The social ones are small and furry. The solitary ones are large and shiny, and are often mistaken for beetles.

Could it have been a 'dumbledore beetle' ?
