Another store complaining their profits are down, M&S have been for a long time out of touch with the average income, and insisted on chasing high profit margins, well they need to get into the real world, or continue to close stores. Their food prices, along with everything else they sell is in some cases 40% above other stores. They deserve to crash.
They're almost certainly trying to (eventually) get out of non-food sales altogether, TC44. It will be their food outlets at filling stations and railway stations, together with brand new all-food stores on out-of-town retail parks and their home delivery service which will bring in most of their money. The ability to sell through Ocado will greatly enhance their profits.
Don't have access to M&S without a 40minute drive, no matter how good their food is....so Waitrose for me (15 minute walk) and I shall be availing myself of their new Meal Deal tomorrow...if you are interested....
Do most of my clothes shopping on line, Debenhams' mostly, am familiar with the makes they sell, differences in sizing etc, saves a lot of faffing about in the High Street.
