So last night I turned the TV/Sky on in my bedroom and the Honeywell Tower Fan located next to the TV - came on at the same time !? Really freaky. Not used the fan in about a year and the remote to the fan is right over the other side of the bedroom. My 22 year old daughter was talking to me at the time in the room so I was not imagining it.....

Maybe the inferred from the remote to TV is very similar to the one of the fan..

I have two identical TVs, sometimes when changing the Chanel or volume of one, it will affect the other. But the remote doesn't always work for the opposite TV, only sometimes. They both work all the time and every time with their own remotes though. I assume this is because of a similar inferred signal
Very odd these remote doodies. At a previous address our door bell used to ring when our neighbour locked his car door with his fob.
Because it's all just random infrared signals going through the air. Sometimes they correlate with other devices and trigger a response.
You put on SKY and your Honeywell device came on.
Maybe it was the siht hitting the fan ?

Often when using the remote to adjust the volume on my tv, my radio comes on. The radio is in another part of the room.
